Forestport - Barbara St. John, 71, of Deer Run Road, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.

Mrs. St. John was born in Utica on March 8, 1938 to Henry and Marguerite Mager Wagner. She graduated from Utica Free Academy with the Class of 1955. On April 24, 1965 Barbara was united in marriage with Howard St. John at St. Mary’s Church in Utica. The couple moved to Forestport in 1976, where Barbara became an active member of St. Patrick’s Church, serving as the parish bookkeeper. She was also a very active member of the Catholic Women’s Club of Forestport.

In addition to her husband, Howard, Barbara is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon St. John of Utica, and Kathleen Dunlap and husband Richard, of Buffalo; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kimberly St. John of Forestport; five grandchildren, Alaina and Alex St. John, and Kurtis, Hannah and Ryan Dunlap; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome and Mary Jane Wagner and Richard and Roberta Wagner, all of Utica, and Paul and Linda Wagner of Deerfield; and a sister, Joan Horth of Chadwicks. She was pre-deceased by a younger brother, Robert Wagner, and a brother-in- law, Richard Horth.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Reverend Sean P. O’Brien at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Forestport. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy Street, Boonville, NY 13309.
