Boonville - Dennis R. Smith, 65, of Jackson Hill Road passed away at his residence while under the loving care of his wife and family on Thursday, March 11, 2010.

He was born in Utica on December 14, 1944, a son of Clarence R. and Adelia Mae Clark. Mr. Smith grew up in the hamlet of West Branch, graduating from West Leyden Central School with the Class of 1963. He was employed at Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., and then at Home Foam Insulation Company before his employment for 44 years as a sawyer at Bailey Lumber Company of Boonville. He retired due to illness in December 2008.

On December 7, 1964 Dennis was united in marriage with Charlene A. Gillen at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden. The couple enjoyed fishing together on the Black River at Dexter and Oneida Lake, and ice fishing on Lake Delta. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter who savored time spent at his hunting camp in Otsego County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Russell and his girlfriend, Patricia Bridgett of Westmoreland. Rick and his wife, Janine, of Boonville, and Randy of North Western; six grandchildren, Miranda, Kody, Matt, Kelsey, Carter, and Keegan; a sister, Sharon Conover of MA; and two half brothers, Kenny Coe and Junie Cox, both of Oneida. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah in 2005, and a half brother, Allen Coe.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday 1-4 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. There will be no additional services.
