Boonville - Marie M. (Scherz) Glur, 98, a former resident of Main Street passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had been a resident since February 2009.
She was born in Pine Island, MN on October 27, 1911, a daughter of Ernest and Anna (Burki) Scherz. She attended rural schools. In September 1935, Marie was united in marriage with Arthur Schwendy and the couple made their home in Beaver Falls. Mr. Schwendy died in 1967. In 1974 Marie married Rudolph Glur in Rome. They lived in New London. Following Mr. Glur's death in 1983. Marie moved to Rome, and eventually to Boonville in 1991.
Mrs. Glur was of the Catholic faith, and a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville.
She is survived by two step sons, Donald Glur of New London, and Robert Glur of Rome; three sisters, Alice Hutton of Boonville, Margaret Yauger of FL, and Freda O'Brien of CA; a brother, Charles "Jeff" Scherz, and his wife, Carol of Boonville; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Scherz of Rome, Nancy Scherz of Verona, and Alice Scherz of Rome; several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by four sisters, Hilda Zarnoch in 1969, Ann Pierce in 1982, Ida Rimiller in 1982, and Mildred Leslie in 2006; and four brothers, Ernest, Jr. in 1910, John in 2005, Arnold in 1998, and Fred in 2009.
A prayer will be said Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville where Rev. Sean P. O'Brien, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan. Calling hours are Sunday 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund, 110 Charles Street, Boonville, NY 13309.
